What is Nissan’s ProPILOT Assist Technology?

Nissan has made an investment in innovation, equipping its vehicles with the latest technology – model year after model year. The 2023 line-up features the most exciting tech available today, including ProPILOT Assist! This hands-on driver assist system utilizes Nissan’s Intelligent Cruise Control and Steering Assist capabilities to keep your vehicle on track. It even incorporates a stop and hold function that safely brings your Nissan from full speed to full stop – and then smoothly gets it back up to speed when traffic resumes its roll.

ProPILOT Assist’s radar sensor and forward-facing camera also pair with the advanced navigation system to predict upcoming curves and speed changes, not only keeping you centered but stress-free on the road ahead. Drivers can customize their preferred following distance too!

This future-focused system is available in select new models, like the Nissan ARIYA and Rogue. In fact, the 2018 Nissan Rogue was the first U.S. vehicle to feature ProPILOT Assist! Today’s driver assist tech has evolved since then, but Nissan continues to look to tomorrow.

How to Use ProPILOT Assist

Follow these simple steps to make the most of your Nissan’s ProPILOT Assist system:

Step 1: Press the ProPILOT Assist button.

Step 2: Press “set” when you have reached your desired speed.

Step 3: Set your preferred following distance.

Once ProPILOT Assist is engaged and lane markers have been successfully detected, the steering wheel and lane line icons on the dash will turn from gray to green. Steering Assist will also provide small steering inputs to help you stay centered in the lane.

If the system does not detect your hand on the wheel, it will issue visual and audible prompts as a reminder. If you still do not respond, the system will pulse the brakes to grab your attention. If still ignored, the system will gently begin to slow down within its lane, turn off the hazard lights and come safely to a stop.
